Our story
Founded in 2007 to coordinate humanitarian aid among international NGOs, PINGON broadened to an inclusive membership in November 2023, recognising local capacities and strengthening its commitment to localization, while keeping its widely recognised acronym.
Guided by the Core Humanitarian Principles (humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence), the Principles of Partnership, Do No Harm, the Core Humanitarian Standard, child protection and zero-tolerance PSEAH, and environmental & climate safeguards.

Three goals guiding our work
Capacity & Coordination
Strengthen collective capacity to deliver and advocate for people-centered, locally-led humanitarian assistance that is coordinated, principled, and responsive to communities in need.
Policy & Advocacy
Collectively engage in coordination, information sharing, and advocacy to influence policy, resource partners, public opinion, and the practice of humanitarian action.
Localization & Solidarity
Put shared commitment to localization into practice, fostering common understanding, aligning with global standards, building solidarity, and directly supporting national and local CSOs.
How PINGON is led
General Membership
Highest policy-making body; meets in an annual General Assembly to set vision/mission/goals, approve frameworks, and elect leadership.
Executive Committee
Seven members (Chairperson + Vice-Chair) on staggered two-year terms, leading and managing PINGON, replacing the 2007-2025 Convenor/Co-Convenor model.
Secretariat
Hosted by a member organisation (CFSI); supports logistics, documentation, knowledge management, and emergency coordination tools (5W, sitreps).
Working Groups
Three thematic groups (Humanitarian Coordination, Policy & Advocacy, and Localization), each delivering one of PINGON's strategic goals.
